Aims for the project
- To have a positive and direct effect on young people considered to be disadvantaged, socially excluded and marginalised
- To cause an increase in social behaviour and provide an alternative to a culture of alcohol/drug abuse, sectarianism, prejudice and violence
- To facilitate an increase in participation, motivation and self esteem
- To provide innovative and structured programmes that are flexible and adaptive to adjust to recent change and the current needs of the young people
- To provide opportunities for young people to access information in training, to enable the learning and development of new skills and knowledge
- To facilitate the development of leadership, mediation and advocacy skills that enable young people to become ambassadors for change
- To provide a safe shared space and provide opportunities for young people from different backgrounds to mix socially, and have meaningful dialogue enabling an increased mutual understanding and acceptance of each other, and each other's cultures, beliefs and traditions.
Youth service and what we offer
- Daily after-schools drop-in sessions - pool, dance, art, computer games, tuck shop and other activities
- Weekly detached youth work on the streets of Lurgan - relationship building and offering assistance
- REACH Schools programme - personal development facilitation, citizenship, sexual health education and mentoring of students in local secondary schools
- Organised residentials and trips
- Drama and music skills development programmes
- Personal, mental and health programmes
- Community and single identity programmes
- Ongoing support and mentoring of young people requesting assistance
- Advocacy within the youth justice system
